My New Apartment

I was very excited to find this apartment, because it’s so cheap compared to similar apartments in this area (which is also the most expensive area of the city). It’s not bad, and it has all the amenities you would hope for in an apartment, for only $250. Plus, here’s my sweet view of Taipei 101 from my bedroom window:

I do have a roommate who I found on craigslist. And of course, he’s kind of crazy. Those of you who have been reading for a while know about the bad luck I’ve had with craigslist roommates. You’d think I would learn. But I haven’t.

First of all, he keeps the door to his individual room locked at all times and rarely ever comes out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him go out at night to socialize– he just blasts loud dance music until late at night every day. Secondly, he insists that we keep separate hand soap and toilet paper in the bathroom, separate dish soap in the kitchen, etc. Nothing can be shared. Third, he calculates the utilities by day, so if one of us wasn’t there for a day we don’t pay utilities that day. Right… somehow, I’m having my doubts about the need for all of that.

  1. wow….. but since’s he’s home all the time and you’re not, the division of the utilities bill should err in your favor
